| + | Electronic repair is intimidating at first to many device owners because they aren’t used to opening a device up, staring a bunch of robotic innards in the eye, soldering, etc. Electronic repair, however, doesn’t have to be as intimidating as it seems. By using the right tools and following repair guides carefully, electronic repairs can be achieved by novice fixers. It is useful, however, to learn some additional tips and tricks like screwdriver best practices and screw organization before you get started. Additionally, if you’re working on a more complicated repair, background information, like how to safely discharge a capacitor, could help make your repair less of a headache. In fact, maybe you’ll find the repair to be at least a little bit fun and enjoy knowing that you understand your device a little bit better. After all, at iFixit, we don’t think you really own a device unless you’ve fixed it. |
